Avivo Health Group’s department of Urology and Andrology offers the following medical and surgical treatment services:

Medication

Urinary Incontinence is a symptom associated with several medical conditions in Urology. Issues like loss of bladder control and accidental leakage of urine are treated by anticholinergics and alpha-blockers; these sources of medication helps in calming the overactive bladder muscles, and men with an enlarged prostate to fully empty their bladder.

Hematuria, a condition where traces of blood are seen in an individual’s urine, is also a common symptom in Urinary Disorders. To treat Hematuria, our doctors prescribe antibiotics to either treat a urinary tract infection or prescribe other over-the-counter medicines to shrink the individual’s enlarged prostate.

Another condition named as Nocturnal Enuresis (bedwetting) can also be treated with medication. This disease is characterized by the involuntary action of urination during sleep, usually experienced by children at an age when the practice of bladder control begins. After an appropriate age of your child, our doctors prescribe drugs to reduce the production of urine during night and decrease bladder contractions that increases bladder capacity.

Lithotripsy

Lithotripsy is another medical procedure performed by our specialists to treat conditions where stones develop in a man’s ureters, kidneys or gallbladder. Deposit of stones in these urinary structures can cause damage to the kidneys and the urinary tract, hence laser lithotripsy and shock wave lithotripsy is performed to break down these stones into smaller pieces, making them capable of passing out of the system naturally through urination.

During shock waves lithotripsy, our urology surgeon uses the equipment named lithotripter, which aims rays of shock waves directly onto the stones through a man’s body.

During laser lithotripsy, our urology surgeon makes use of an endoscope to see the stones inside an organ, followed using a laser to break down the stones.

Varicocelectomy

Varicocelectomy is a surgical procedure performed by our Urology and Andrology surgeons to treat a condition named Varicocele.  Varicocele is the condition described as an enlargement of the veins found in a man’s scrotum. This vein enlargement restricts blood flow to the man’s other structures of the reproductive system.

A common complication in men due to Varicocele is infertility. Varicocelectomy is usually performed in men facing difficulties to conceive due to reduced production of sperm and testosterone hormone. Varicocelectomy also improves the flow of blood from the scrotum to the rest of the reproductive system.
