ORTHOPAEDICS

Musculoskeletal conditions and illnesses can affect people of all ages and restrict them from functioning normally. Avivo Health Group has established a facility for Orthopaedic Surgery in UAE that provides services for the treatment of every individual’s muscular and skeletal deformities – from a child’s musculoskeletal congenital disease to an individual’s traumatic injuries that require limb-restoration surgeries to orthopaedic disorders that occur from ageing.

Our Orthopaedic Surgeons are expert specialists devoted to the assessment, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of a wide range of disorders affecting the bones, muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments. They have been trained and educated extensively for the expertise of proper diagnosis and both surgical and medical treatment of the musculoskeletal diseases.

Orthopaedics Services are offered from the following centres of AVIVO Group:

Our orthopaedic surgeons are trained in a wide range of treatment approaches, techniques and procedures to facilitate patients of all ages, experiencing common and unidentified symptoms and diseases. We offer treatment services for conditions that include spinal deformity, bone and joint fractures and replacement, and sport injuries.

Apart from the commonly practiced surgical procedures like joint replacement and fractured bone surgery in areas including spine, hand, wrists, hip and knee, shoulder and elbow, and foot and ankle, our orthopaedic surgeons also treat patients with the following problems: spinal stenosis and ruptured discs causing back pain, hand arthritis and hand injuries including carpal tunnel syndrome, bone tumors and cancers, orthopaedic trauma, club foot accompanied by hip dysplasia and bow legs, arthritis, osteoporosis, limb lengthening, and Achilles tendon injuries.

We offer you a range of minimally invasive and complex surgical procedures. Some of these services are:

Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is an evaluative surgical procedure that is performed by our orthopaedic surgeons to examine and diagnose problems inside a joint. Our surgeons recommend the procedure of arthroscopy when a patient suffers inflammation in the joints, has encountered joint injury or has developed damages in the joint with growing age.

Arthroscopy is performed on every joint in a person’s skeletal structure. The joints which commonly undergo the process of arthroscopy include hip, wrist, shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle.

During arthroscopy, a surgeon creates a small incision in the area of concern and inserts an arthroscope through it. An arthroscope is a thin, flexible instrument that has a high-resolution lens and a high-resolution camera attached to its front end. The images of the inside structure produced on a large-screen monitor helps the surgeon to diagnose the problem and treat it subsequently if the condition can be surgically managed through small incisions.

Arthroplasty

Arthroplasty is a surgical treatment procedure to reconstruct or replace a joint to restore its function and mobility. Joints of a person’s skeletal structure can be affected by traumatic injuries or different kinds of arthritis. Degenerative joint disease and osteoarthritis are the types of arthritis that is characterized by a loss of cushioning cartilage in the joint; this condition commonly calls for the need of Arthroplasty.

Arthroplasty is a procedure performed on all areas of joints; however, arthroplasty is commonly performed by our surgeons during hip and knee replacement surgery.

During arthroplasty, joints can be restored by repositioning or resurfacing the bones or replacing the joint oftentimes by an artificial joint called prosthesis.

Bone Tumor Surgery

Our orthopaedic surgeons also offer bone tumor surgical treatment services. Bone tumors are characterized by an abnormal growth and uncontrollable division of bone cells, forming lumps of benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) abnormal tissues.

Our surgeons perform bone biopsies to diagnose the nature and growth of the bone tumors.

Complete benign tumors are removed by our surgeons through surgical techniques.

For malignant tumors, our surgeons perform either the limb salvage surgery or the amputation surgery. During limb salvage surgery, the cancerous parts of the patient’s bone is removed and replaced by prosthesis whilst keeping the surrounding tissues, ligaments, nerves and blood vessels intact. During amputation surgery, all parts of the arm and the leg are removed; this type of surgery is performed to treat extreme malignancy of the bone tumors which affects the blood vessels and muscles around the bone.

Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery

Avivo Health Group’s team of Orthopaedic Surgeons incorporate Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons specialized in the evaluation and treatment of joint, bone or muscle problems in children of active growing age.

Our paediatric orthopaedic surgeons offer surgical management for problems that include congenital limb and spine deformities (non-symmetrical limb lengthening, clubfoot, and scoliosis), bone or joint tumors, infections or injuries, broken or fractured bones, and gait abnormalities like limping.

Sports Medicine and Sports Injury Treatment

Our orthopaedic surgeons and specialists offer treatment services for all sports injuries, in sports amateurs to professional athletes.

Common sports injuries include Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear, Shoulder Dislocations, Meniscal Tears, Kneecap Dislocation, and Severe Fractures.

Our surgical manipulation services of these injuries include the fixing of bones through hardware like screws, rods, wires and plates, or operational realignment of the displacement bones.

Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

Our department of Orthopaedic Surgery also offers our patients the physiotherapy and rehabilitation services. We provide post-surgery rehabilitation to patients for faster recovery and enhanced mobility of their operated bones and joints.

We also offer physiotherapy services by our expert and modernly trained physiotherapists to patients who are suffering from arthritis and other disorders; the patient’s symptoms with these conditions are less severe and can be treated by physical and medical management,
